Role Playing
Do you enjoy meeting like-minded people? Would you like to act in simulation exercises that imitate real life humanitarian crises? Does networking with professional humanitarians appeal to you? If you answered yes to these questions, then this opportunity to volunteer with us in the beautiful setting of the Victorian Emergency Management Institute (VEMI) at Mt Macedon in Victoria, might be for you.
If you have participated in our training courses, and are interested to know what it's like on the other side of the crisis simulation, then this provides the chance to be part of it.
You can assist us in transforming the local surrounds into an international crisis response simulation and help us prepare humanitarians for life in the field.
Networking
The experience is a rewarding one as you support and challenge other individuals looking to contribute to the field of humanitarian response. You will also get to network with the many professionals who enrol in our courses, along with RedR's experienced trainers and fellow volunteers. We accommodate our volunteers overnight in VEMI and provide all meals. Volunteers also receive a small stipend towards the cost of their transport to and from VEMI.
How To Apply
If you would like to join us, we welcome your enquiry. Please email us - [email protected]

Volunteer Requirements
RedR Australia is always looking for new enthusiastic volunteers as we require a number of volunteers to help us on our Essentials of Humanitarian Practice (EHP) and Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) courses.
Anyone over the age of 18 can volunteer on our courses however if you are intending to undertake HEAT as a participant and haven’t already done so, we ask that you do not volunteer on the HEAT.
RedR provides a safe and secure training environment, therefore we require all volunteers to sign our policies and procedures. RedR is committed to providing a free and fair workplace for all staff and volunteers. Volunteers must also undertake a police check through RedR, at our cost.
Depending on where volunteers are based, they will receive accommodation and food at VEMI for the duration of their stay, as well an honorarium payment as a token of our appreciation for your assistance. You will need to arrange your own transport to and from VEMI, however we are more than happy to help you find a lift where possible. Please let the training team know of your mode of transport and whether you are able to offer other volunteers a lift.
