We give help when it is needed most. Our register is used by UN agencies, international non-government organisations and by the Australian government (AusAID) to access skilled workers quickly in a humanitarian crisis.RedR Australia offers a specialist register that enables aid agencies to find the humanitarian personnel they need. We provide humanitarian professionals of different disciplines including water and sanitation, shelter, logistics, public health, surveying, project management and social work. The people that we place are of exceptional quality – they have undertaken our training to ensure they are well prepared for emergency work. They are experienced professionals who can quickly mobilise local communities and manage international aid effectively, making a lasting difference to the lives of people affected by disasters and crises. We provide ongoing training to our register members to ensure that aid agencies are provided the support they need to be effective in their work. RedR Australia does not run its own field programmes. The register is a standby facility for UN agencies, international non-government organisations and AusAID. We provide support to our members while they are in the field. How does the Register work ?- RedR Australia selects and trains people with suitable skills and experience for humanitarian relief work to form the stand-by register.
- UN agencies and NGOs send requests to RedR Australia for people to fill particular roles.
- Register members send an up-to-date CV with their expression of interest for an assignment.
- The agency/NGO selects the most suitable person for the role and confirms the assignment details.
- The RedR Australia register member signs a contract either with RedR (for UN agencies) or with the NGO.
- Medical, travel and insurance expenses are always covered.
- People deployed to UN agencies receive a salary and a living allowance.
- Remuneration and conditions vary for assignments with NGOs.
- The RedR Register member is deployed to the field for a period that may vary from 2 weeks to up to 6 months.
- RedR provides support pre-deployment, in the field and post-return with briefings, medical checks, technical advice and any other support required such as post-return counselling.
- The register member in the field is expected to send regular reports to RedR Australia on conditions, work completed, constraints and recommendations.
- Register members also support RedR Australia’s work in a variety of ways – training course simulations, interview panels, returned relief worker talks, articles and presentations for industry associations and education institutions.
